The Civilian Conservation Corps and WPA built much of the park in the 1930s: rustic cabins, bridges, trail shelters, a stable, and a timber-and-blue-granite dining lodge. The 25 buildings and 5 structures were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The park itself turned 100 in 2026.
